What: Mapping the Humanities. A hands-on workshop intended to teach practical online mapping skills. Instructors are from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Google's Google Earth Outreach group.

When: Thursday (starting mid-morning) and Friday (ending mid-afternoon), August 6-7, 2015

Where: The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, Charlottesville, Va.

Cost: Attendance is free. Lunch will be provided both days. Participants, whose applications are accepted, will be responsible for travel and lodging expenses (if necessary).

Who should attend? This workshop is intended for members of Virginia’s nonprofit humanities and arts sector interested in advancing the mission of their organization through maps. Ideal participants will possess basic computer literacy and meet one or more of the following requirements:

    • Have some ideas that lend themselves to geographic visualizations
    • Come with the institutional support and interest in the creation of online maps
    • Are interested in training others within their organizations

This hands-on workshop is limited to a maximum of 20 participants. Due to limited space, we may not be able to accept every workshop applicant, and no more than two representatives from each organization will be considered.
